Dupilumab shows long-term effectiveness in a large cohort of treatment-refractory atopic dermatitis patients in daily practice: 52-Week results from the Dutch BioDay registry

CONCLUSION: Treatment with dupilumab resulted in a rapid improvement in clinical outcome measures, and effectiveness further improved during the 52-week follow-up period. Continue reading

Patch test results with the European baseline series and additions thereof in the ESSCA network, 2015-2018

CONCLUSIONS: While the prevalence of MI contact allergy decreased substantially following regulatory intervention, the persistently high levels of allergy to metals, fragrances, other preservatives, and rubber chemicals point to problems needing further research and, potentially, preventive efforts. Results with national additions to the baseline series provide important information on substances possibly to be considered for inclusion in the EBS. Continue reading

Formaldehyde 2% is not a useful means of detecting allergy to formaldehyde releasers- results of the ESSCA network, 2015-2018

CONCLUSIONS: Formaldehyde 2% aq. is an inadequate screen for contact allergy to the formaldehyde releasers, which should be considered for inclusion in any series dependant on the frequency of reactions to and relevance of each individual allergen. Continue reading

Prevalence of Cognitive Complaints and Impairment in Patients with Chronic Subdural Hematoma and Recovery after Treatment: A Systematic Review

Chronic subdural hematoma (CSDH) is a frequently occurring neurological disease associated with older age and use of anticoagulants. Symptoms vary from headaches to coma, but cognitive deficits can also be present. However, exact prevalence and severity of cognitive deficits in CSDH are still unknown. In this systematic review, we aim to assess cognitive status of patients with CSDH, at presentation and after treatment. PubMed, Embase and PsycInfo were searched for articles concerning cognition… Continue reading

An angle-scanned cryogenic Fabry-Pérot interferometer for far-infrared astronomy

The sensitivity of state-of-the-art superconducting far-infrared detectors used in conjunction with cryogenically cooled space telescopes and instrumentation is such that spectroscopic observations are generally limited by photon noise from the astronomical source or by galactic foreground or zodiacal emission within the field-of-view. Therefore, an instrument design that restricts the spectral bandpass viewed by the detector must be employed. One method of achieving background limited, high… Continue reading
